Addiction can be treated successfully. Families are united and life style is improved.

If you want your life back, free from addiction to cocaine, heroin, oxycontin, vicodin, methamphetamines, alcohol, marijuana, and other drugs, our program is designed to heal the family as a whole and assist in helping you maintaining your recovery.

“I’m not the same person that I was when I entered this program. Through my recovery and the 12 steps, I have found meaning and purpose in my life. It feels especially good with my kids because they know that I’m here for them. There’s no catch-up or broken promises anymore. The challenge of a sober parent is keeping promises.”

Testimonials

Desperate to find a continuing care and recovery center for my son, I felt immediately reassured and hopeful after talking to Garry, the Program director for Able To Change Recovery.  I did not know much about substance abuse at the time, but he convinced me that it was the atmosphere that Jack needed.  Their positive, informative and no-nonsense environment fosters a sense of well-being.  Their holistic approach provided my son with the knowledge and counseling needed to improve his self-esteem, self image, and help him recognize his potential without the use of drugs.  They guided my son to integrate the 12-step program (AA), required him to take responsibility and find a job, and taught him skills to be independent and resourceful.  This life transforming experience is reflected in my son’s voice when I talk with him on the phone.  I feel his gratitude and happiness that he has for life.  He attends PGCC (golf school) in Southern California how and exclaims with great enthusiasm that life couldn’t be any better!  That is pretty remarkable for a 20 year old! I know he will experience ups and downs throughout life, but Able To Change Recovery gave my son the opportunity to change his attitude toward a prevailing optimism that didn’t exist before.  I couldn’t have asked for more!

Sincerely, Becky A.

Thank you for everything you have done for our son Geoff, and our family.  We feel so hopeful for him and so proud of him now.  He now has the opportunity to keep new and healthy relationships which he acquired while in your care. We are also hopeful and thankful that he has developed a healthier thought pattern and that he will continue to find strength and support at meetings, and with God. Throughout the program we all have learned that we need to take life one day at a time, and that people truly can change.  Thank you so very much. Please keep in touch.

Sincerely,  Family of Geoff

Thank you for taking George into your program, I feel he is in a safe program that will address his base for his alcohol addiction.  These past two weeks have him around (all be it distracted) have given our family an inner peace from the chaos the drinking was causing.  We are all ready to heel and become a stronger family.  With my little ones I am very concerned about giving them the right foundation and exposing them at such a young age.  We pray that their daddy has chosen to address his problems and take the steps to learn and be a stronger daddy and husband.  We let go of the outcome and let God and you program and most of all George do the needed work.

All my Best, Dena M.

Families rush in and out of your doors everyday and the memory of those families fade with time.  Our family will never forget our experience with ATCR.  Your program and staff are to be commended.  I have spoken about your program at my AA meeting and will recommend you to anyone in need.  Although Kirk did not complete his residency, your program changed his life.  Your staff gave him the awakening he needed and showed him he cannot do this alone.  You gave him the tools he needs to recover and live the good life he deserves.  You gave him goals and dreams!  It is up to Kirk to use these tools in his recovery.  It is all up to him – but he has finally had the awakening and God is back in his life.  Our thanks in the support John and I received also.  We also learned a lot and were touched by your counselors.  We will never forget what you gave to our family.  We will always be grateful!

Pray for us, John & Karen

I know that Able To Change helped save my daughter’s life.  My daughter, Amanda, had a serious addiction problem for over ten years.  When she “hit bottom” she was close to death.  After six weeks of hospitalization, she still was not ready to be on her own and due to the severity of her addiction she required extended treatment.  Able to Change come highly recommended.  When I first talked with Saralyn, I knew that this was the place for Amanda to continue her recovery.  With the outstanding staff and facilities Amanda was literally “able to change.”  My heartfelt appreciation goes to Saralyn, Judy and Garry and the rest of the staff. Over a year later, Amanda is alive and clean!

Greatest Appreciation, Patricia

The best decision I could have ever made was coming to Able to Change Recovery.  You guys lead such a wonderful program that saved my life!  Thank you so much for taking me in with such warm, open hearts! I am planning to come back the first park of July to visit. I have 40 days sober today! I have been to several meetings and have found a new sponsor names Shawna! Get this; she works in the building next to me at Countrywide.  That’s my Higher Power right there! To an Amazing, Unforgettable Staff, you will never be forgotten!

Thank you, Love, Kelli

On behalf of our family I would like to thank and applaud your entire team of professionals for your compassion, hard work & diligence.  I would highly recommend your program and services to any person that requires intensive rehabilitation.  As on executive Director of a non-profit human service agency I am well aware of the stresses and licensing requirements you face each day and the challenges of the regulatory system.  Our son, brother, and friend, was in a life threatening state when he entered into your program.  With your help, knowledge, and guidance his is recovering and has another opportunity to move forward.  I look forward to meeting you in the middle of May.

With Sincerest Thanks, Diane J.

This is just a letter to thank all of you for everything that you have done.  Every time I have needed a letter for court or any other reason it has usually been last minute, and your program comes through for me.  I know that throughout my stay, there have been some instances where I have not made your job easier and I apologize.  I hope that besides that you can see that I have made great progress in my recovery and take it very seriously.  Due to this program and its entire staff I can say you have given me a shot at a new life.  I am not always the best at projecting my gratitude so this is my way of letting all of you know that I appreciate everything.  I figured a letter might be the best way to just say thank you.

Thank you, Christopher M.

I would like to say thanks for everything that you all have done for me.  You have made it possible for me to be able to change myself while I was at the Laguna house working on my personal program.  With the tools and new life skills I have acquired through your program I feel confident as I embark on this new and exciting phase of my life.  Since this is the only rehab I have ever done in my life, I have nothing to compare it with.  But from talking to other people who have done different programs, I can tell that “Able to Change Recovery “is far superior to any other out there.  Your staff is very talented and dedicated, along with fully committed, to helping us clients achieve success in the recovery process.  From day one I was made to feel comfortable and relaxed.  As a matter of fact I liked it so much that I did not want to leave!  I entered into your program at the lowest point in my life – my house was not a home for me – I am on my way right now to San Luis Obispo to stay with my parents temporarily until I can get a place in the Pismo Beach area.

Calling Saralyn on 1/16/07 was the smartest decision I have ever made in my entire life.  I am so very grateful and full of hope and faith for my future – whatever it holds for me. My sincerest gratitude goes to Todd P. & Todd T. – I love you guys! You made me feel like a brother, which is something I never felt before. Ron & Billy – you guys ROCK! Your knowledge and expertise in counseling is awesome. Corey - with your heartfelt compassion, you are integral part of the program.  Your constant honesty and openness is refreshing.  Saralyn – you are definitely an “Angel of God.”  I love you and will always hold you in the highest regard.  Together with Judy and Gary you make a great team.  I just can’t put into words how I feel because “thanks” seems inadequate.  How about “super-duper thanks!” or “mega-mambo thanks!”  Anyway – my life long thanks goes out to “Able To Change Recovery” for everything you guys do.

My name is Patrick; I am a 41-year-old alcoholic and addict.  After 25 or 30 years of addiction and finally a felony conviction, I decided that I could no longer live that way.  With the permission of the Justice system and the help of Able To Change Recovery, I have a new life.  For the past 4 years I have had to use mass transit and the help of friends in order to run my company.  A construction company is not the easiest way to make a living without being able to drive, but able I have been.  In a few weeks I will have the privilege of operating a motor vehicle once again.  My life and company have never been more successful; none of this would be possible had I not allowed myself to escape the past torment of my existence.  If you believe that you are ready to free yourself from your personal bondage, then please give Able To Change Recovery a chance, but most importantly give yourself a chance to change!  Anything is possible if you allow it to happen!

Dear Saralyn,

Thank you for your donation to me.  I am a born and bred native New Yorker and my entire life I have been an extreme fan of the New York Yankees.  I have been the cook at Charlie Street and the manager of Hamilton House and Operations Manager of Charlie Street Food and Housing Services.  My first 10 days of sobriety began at Charlie Street.  I was so excited to be able to bring my friends in the fellowship to Anaheim Stadium to watch my favorite team in action.  Your contribution to me has indirectly helped us to continue to reach out to the alcoholic who still suffers.  In addition, my personal affiliation with The First Step House of Orange County has drawn me closer to the work of the NCADD-OC.  I wish to take this opportunity to thank you for your continuing commitment to that organization as well.  Thank you again, Saralyn, for the Yankee’s tickets. Please rest assured that your generosity has helped more than you can imagine.

Warmest Regards, Anthony G.

I entered ATCR as an alternative to jail.  At the time, I was only considering the easiest way to deal with growing legal difficulties.  When I met the head of staff, I realized they were compassionate professionals who just might be able to help me solve some of the tougher problems; I had been facing four years.  I committed to an intensive course of treatment, including 60 days residential, and four months outpatient counseling.  The first night I talked to my individual counselor, I was willing to listen, and I learned what I had be unable to admit before – I am an alcoholic, and I can be helped by others who have walked the road before me.  I participated actively, and took full advantage of the structure, guidance, and tools that ATCR offered.  They showed me that following a simple program of recovery can lead us out of the darkest despair into possibilities we had never imagined.
